Red and Blue

Edmund W.

Little red surrounded by blue

Desperate to be blue too

Always feeling like a twerp alone,

Only managing purple

Now fuming at the fuchsia hue.

Little fuchsia following through

Pushing for a new shade of blue

Coloring with pen and paint

Trying to be what it ain’t,

Soon achieving a violet hue

Little violet wasn’t blue

And little violet knew it too

But suddenly some blues looked red

And all around they looked and said,

Isn’t red a lovely hue?

Some turned red but most stayed blue

A rainbow did indeed accrue

Little Violet thought to shed

The violet and return to red

Tried to learn to love its hue

Little red looks brand new

And in the rainbow feels it too

Why red wanted to be blue

Red wondered but never knew.

Isn’t red a lovely hue?
